Look out world -  the Mod revolution is back with the sharp dressed Liverpudlian band, The Universal, whose self-titled debut album is released on Monday.

Based around the talents of singer, guitarist and songwriter Terry Shaughnessy, the quartet’s timeless take on vintage British guitar rock has seen them draw comparisons to classic bands such as The Jam and Small Faces resulting in support slots with the likes of Ocean Colour Scene and even Paul Weller himself.

Shaughnessy even sounds like a young Weller - perhaps he should be called the Mod -Son.

The Universal, who's name is taken from The Small Faces single (which was actually called Hello The Universal but was shorted due to a printing error!), is completed with Gary Chambers on bass, Dave Ormsby on drums and lead guitarist Piet Koehorst

Anyway, it's all pretty good stuff and and I'm sure Paul Weller would be flattered. Check out some of the songs on their MySpace page
