The Quails second album entitled ‘Master of Imperfection’ is released on May 17th and combines a darker, more sophisticated sound with the quirky, catchy tunes of the first album ‘I've Heard it's All Rumours’. Recorded at the atmospheric Sawmills studios on the River Fowey in Cornwall, the album is engineered by Tom Joyce and produced by Simon Honywill who is head of department for sound for The Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. It was mastered in Chagford by Simon Heyworth who started his illustrious career with the iconic Tubular Bells
The band is fronted by singer/songwriter Dan Steer who has a distinctive and powerful voice coupled with a charismatic performance and is ably backed by Sam Banks on bass and Chris Prentice on drums. Dan’s voice is instantly recognizable and Max Armstrong’s guitar riffs are mind blowing. He was recently described by his old tutor at the Exeter Academy of Music and Sound as the most gifted guitar student to pass through the college. Dan’s keyboard playing combines with good old rock guitar to create a perfect fusion of old and new. All topped off with sublime harmonies!
