Tom Williams And The Boat release a new single, ‘Concentrate’ on the 8th March through Unlabel Records / Wire Boat Recordings.

The track is an excellent production and Tom's vocals are are reminiscent of  Billy Bragg but without the politics. It deserves to do well but is likely to just build awareness for the forthcoming album. Or as TW & TB PR says:-

A taster for their debut album, recorded in Livingston Studios with BBC engineer Simon Askew following a meeting whilst recording a session for Huw Stephens last summer, ‘Concentrate’ is a propulsive slice of perfect guitar pop, replete with a wry lyricism that is one of the many notable aspects of this most beguiling of the new British guitar bands.

Tom Williams And The Boat formed in Tunbridge Wells in 2008, the six members having been thrown together via a local gig night and electing to leave their various bands to create something new. With a diverse musicianship that encompasses the traditional rock ‘n’ roll of guitar, bass and drums supplemented by piano, violin, harmonica and whatever else works, the band formed their own Wire Boat Recordings to issue early EPs at gigs and it was these self contained releases that caught the eye of Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq amongst others who weighed in with airplay, sessions and invites to play the BBC Introducing Stage at various UK festivals.
