Friday, 28 May 2010 15:51

When Peter Gabriel recorded a version of Elbows 'Mirrorball' on his last album 'Scratch My Back' it was only a matter of time before Elbow returned the favour.

Peter Gabriel's 'Scratch My Back' project was conceived as a collaborative enterprise between Peter and the bands he chose to cover. He would cover one of their songs, and they would cover one of his in return, creating a further collaboration 'I'll scratch yours' scheduled for release next year.

The build up to the album release will see one track being made available on every full moon, this month being the turn of Elbow with their cover of 'Mercy Street'.

Meanwhile other Festival news is that tickets for Beverley Festival’s headline act The Proclaimers, on Sunday 20th June, are now sold out.

Festival organiser Chris Wade said “We are delighted by the take up of tickets for this concert. It is the first time we have sold out so far in advance of the festival.  It is a pity that so many people will be disappointed at not being able to purchase tickets, but with a limited sized venue it is not possible to accommodate more single event ticket holders. We have to retain some spaces for those who have purchased Weekend and Day tickets for the festival”.  Details here
