The BBC Trust has rejected the BBC's plans to close the digital radio station 6 Music.

In his initial response to the BBC strategy review, BBC Trust chairman Sir Michael Lyons said that the case for the closure of 6 Music had not been made.

The Trust said: "As things stand, the case has not been made for the closure of 6 Music.

"The Executive should draw up an overarching strategy for digital radio. If the director general wanted to propose a different shape for the BBC's music radio stations as part of a new strategy, the trust would consider it.

Tired Pony began life as a doodle in Gary Lightbody's jotter. During idle moments on Snow Patrol's year-long tour cycle for their last album, A Hundred Million Suns, Gary began writing songs for this imaginary band.

Forward to January 4th 2010, a cast of characters assembled at Portland's Type Foundry studio; singer songwriter Iain Archer, Troy Stewart, Belle & Sebastian's Richard Colburn and producer Garret 'Jacknife' Lee, (U2, Editors, Crystal Castles) who brought in Tired Pony's final two members, Peter Buck from R.E.M. and Scott McCaughey, the Seattle musical polymath who's been R.E.M.'s full-time auxiliary member since 1994.

Beck has written songs for the Scott Pilgrim film's fictional band Sex BOB-OMB. The songs were recorded two summers ago at the request of director Edgar Wright (Shaun Of The Dead) and Nigel Godrich, who contributed the score to the film. The versions on the soundtrack have vocals redubbed by the film's actors. Beck will be featured on additional songs. Release date: August 13th 2010

Beck has collaborated with Bat For Lashes on the track "Let's Get Lost" that will be on the soundtrack for Eclipse.
