A new music event in Aberdeen aims to rock up support for Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after saving the life of the father of a local musician.

Jimstock, a one-day music festival held in Aberdeen’s Beach Ballroom on the 5th of November, is the brainchild of well-known local musician Jamie Rodden, 27. With the help of a cast of Aberdeen’s most popular bands and singers, he aims to rake in cash for the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary departments that helped his dad Jim Rodden, 55, recover from heart surgery earlier this year.

James Deane is a singer songwriter for Guildford. Although the name may sound familiar it's more East of Basingstoke than Eden. His debut album 'Diamond & Hearts' is released January 16th 2012 on Denzil Records.

Influenced by the honest song craft of Neil Young, John Martyn and Jackson Browne, James’ musical appeal spans generations. From the shimmering, Tom Petty-esque opener and title track “Diamonds & Hearts”, through the confessional closer “Strange Emotion”, James somehow covers all the bases. Heartened harmonies, characteristic country riffs and encouraging lyrics span both soulful ballads and rock ‘n’ roll beats.

Twenty years after its 1991 release, an anniversary edition of Achtung Baby is released on 31st October, 2011.

Recorded at Hansa Studio in Berlin and Windmill Lane in Dublin, Achtung Baby was U2’s seventh studio album and went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance, becoming one of the most significant records of the 1990s.

London-based five-piece Duologue have announced details of their brand new EP 'A-B' which will be released on Wild Game Records on the 7th November. 

Deceptively named, Duologue’s first incarnation was born from the meeting of music obsessive techno DJ and beats programmer Toby Leeming and guitarist and vocalist Tim Digby-Bell whilst studying in Edinburgh. Through a shared love of obscure electronica, subversive Detroit techno as well as the more usual suspects like Aphex Twin and Radiohead the pair went from bedroom experimentalists to recruiting fellow childhood and university pals Seb Dilleyston (violins) Ross Stone (bass) and Toby Lee (lead guitar) to form a fully-fledged band.

Roddy Woomble released his solo album The Impossible Song & Other Songs after Idlewild decided to take a hiatus for the members to persue personal projects.

Next comes Idlewild guitarist / songwriter Rod Jones with his solo project, The Birthday Suit. Their debut album, The Eleventh Hour, is a return to the noisy pop moments that originally established him as a legend in the UK music scene  is due for release on 11th of November 2011 via Sing It Alone Records

This special concert has been put together to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society. The three main acts will each perform one of their classic albums in sequence.

Ash will present their first ‘proper’ album, ‘1977’ as the original three piece. This record topped the UK chart in 1996 and fielded songs such as ‘Girls From Mars’, 'Angel Interceptor’, 'Goldfinger’ and ‘Oh Yeah’.

The Divine Comedy, featuring Neil Hannon and a string quartet will play the 1994 'Promenade' album. Tracks including ‘Tonight We Fly’, ‘The Summerhouse’ and ‘When The Lights Go Out All Over Europe’ will all be aired.

Lafaro, a 4 piece from Belfast, take their name from the legendary Jazz Bassist Scott LaFaro. However, their music is far removed from their namesake creating 'rhythmic post-harcore designed to pulverise dance floors'

On ‘Easy Meat’ their sophomore offering, LaFaro have transplanted their sound into a black, hellish and apocalyptic space. Gone is the echo of grunge, it has been replaced with metal’s electric chair. Part meditation on Northern Ireland, part metal concept album ‘Easy Meat’ is a dense, troubling and exhilaratingly kick ass affair.

Trophy Wife release the EP, 'Bruxism' on October 17th as the inaugural release on Blessing Force’s newly launched label.

Trophy Wife saw this EP as a means to take themselves out of their comfort zone. Having previously written and recorded in a very insular way, the trio instead took an experimental approach by using a different producer for each track. They travelled to Berlin to work with acclaimed electronic artist/producer Ewan Pearson, then collaborated with Oxford acolytes Yannis from Foals and Andrew Halford. The title track has been produced by James Yuill whilst the EP’s opener 'Canopy Shade' brought Trophy Wife together with one of their longstanding musical heroes, Plaid.
