Thanks to JBO for this review of New Found Affection at The Luxe and who is obviously a 'big fan' - check out the video at the end of their last single.

In this ostentatiously dark basement, beyond the mirrors, lip gloss and over-priced booze, we stand in wait; herds of gorgeous people, acquiring prime spots in a room that seems to twitch with excitement on this lazy Sunday afternoon in Shoreditch.

NEW FOUND AFFECTION step up, fronted by feverish neon and oozing seduction. A red satin dress and big hair are indicators that this is going to be worth the wait.

From the get-go, Tracey lays down a lesson in performance. These songs of heartache and desire are sung with such vigour and soul, it's impossible not to be completely enamoured by her alluring presence on stage. Meanwhile, Matt cuts a solitary black figure; focused and battle-ready. Armed with an array of deep, moody tones and textures storming through his synth, Matt straps into his guitar and sends out screeching overdubs that intertwine nicely with every epic chorus.

Two songs in and Ripping My Heart Out is a true statement of intent. The video has done the rounds for some time now and it's clear that this song is a massive crowd pleaser. The room embraces this chorus of all choruses and celebrates with a much anticipated sing-along.

Running Out Of Love is next up with a bassline generating feel-good vibes throughout the room. It's clear Tracey and Matt are in full stride now and really having fun with the show. Tracey engages with the crowd and announces that we're back to the ballads. Save Me James gently grows and evolves with haunting vocals and emotive lyrical imagery: "...The night is cold and the sky is grey..." This is my favourite song of the set and utterly blows me away. It could be a cinematic masterpiece and clearly shows off the writing credentials of New Found Affection.

BANG! Touch (Fleur De Lis) comes in and whips up a frenzy of excitement. Girls scream and boys watch on with smiling eyes. Somewhere between Prince and Pat Benatar, this hook-filled song seduces the dancer in all of us. Tracey tenaciously works the crowd with unrivalled facial expressions and hand gestures of one empowered woman.

The last song of the show gets lighters in the air and all arms waving in unison. I Just Want To Dance Alone makes a great ending to a set that has brooded over lost love from start to finish. This melancholic, yet hugely uplifting, song confirms that the star of the show doesn't, in fact, need to rely on someone else's love but just the dance she does so well. We all sing, "I just want to dance alone, oh I just want to dance on my own."
Expect great things from New Found Affection... they'll be here for quite a while!
