Penguin Prison - Disco Bloodbath Megamix - download here
Prisons, bloodbaths, megamixes. When will Chris Glover stop tantalizing us with some of the scariest prospects in the world? Thankfully, Penguin Prison’s “Disco Bloodbath Megamix” isn’t horrifying at all. It meanders through disco’s past with a heavy stomp, electric piano, graffiti-era guitar and bass that pops in the right places. The whole megamix element comes into play as these variables shift within Glover’s jams—all of which are fueled by sugary conceptions of what dance music is all about.
LCMDF - Take Me To The Mountains (Derek Allen Mad Decent Remix) - download here
Swamp-step. Yeah, I said it. This track is swamp-step. Go tell your friends all about swamp-step; that new sound Mad Decent's Derek Allen made by combining the colourful electronics of LCMDF's original with the predatory slank of Jam City and the primordial oozes that drip now and then from HEALTH's reptilian carcass. Will it catch on, swamp-step? It's hard to tell, but as the only swamp-step track currently in existence, the scene will surely ride-or-die depending on the success of the original version of this, which arrives October 31 through Heavenly Recordings. One thing that's for sure is that if swamp-step does take off, this post is gonna kill it in SEO ratings.
Glasses Malone - No Sympathy (feat. Jay Rock) - download here
After a five-year delay, Glasses Malone finally dropped his debut album, Beach Cruiser, via Cash Money Records/ Suburban Noize on August 30 with features from Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross and Akon. To commemorate his first official release, the Los Angeles native is pushing the single “No Sympathy” -- a swagged-out banger that finds him trading bars with fellow West Coast rapper Jay Rock. Though the album is literally named after a beach cruiser bicycle, it was also recorded with an ear for cruising in the whip. For this particular song, you’d probably want the windows rolled down and the music all the
way up.
