Following the release of a similar compilation in 2010, Eoin Smith and Russell Thom, both 20, founders of music site Hercules Moments, are set to build upon their previous success with 12 brand new tracks from some of Aberdeen’s finest bands

Over the past few months, Hercules Moments have been working hard on their second sampler of top Aberdeen music. They have collaborated with some great local talent, including artist Greg Strachan, who drew the artwork, and award-winning record producer Iain Macpherson, who cast a knowing eye over each track and made sure it sounded the very best.

The FR boys have just released an EP of new songs into the world and because they’re such nice chaps they’ve decided to give it away for free.

The EP is also available to pre-order as a 10″ Limited Edition vinyl which comes out on the 31st October, below are the places you can pre-order it from:

Blitzen Trapper - Love The Way You Walk Away

Good ole’ boy music. So many fake it, but Blitzen Trapper does it so naturally that it feels like their jams could conceivably come from any era (well, after the ’60s, at least). “Love The Way You Walk Away,” a cut off their new Sub Pop LP American Goldwing, gets in some twang, banjo finger-picking and vocal harmonies that touch on the Grateful Dead and “drinking too much tonight.” If you have a creek nearby, grab some brews and some bros and go live it up. American Goldwing is out now.

The 4AD Sessions have been documenting live performances from artists on the label's roster since its inception back in 2008.

The series began with Deerhunter’s audio-only session at Studio Plateaux on Platts Eyot Island in West London, originally inspired by the Peel Sessions archive and a desire to replicate the live experience in a creative manner. It was subsequently released as an extremely limited cassette tape, both given away at a Halloween show in their native Atlanta and through an online competition, and has since become one of the label’s most desired releases from recent years.

Katy B - Lights On (Gigamesh Remix)

The pint-sized dubstep queen is armed with 12 club-ready pop tracks, including her hit single “Lights On,” which gets the remix treatment here from dance music producer Gigamesh. Accentuating the catchy beat, Gigamesh turns up the tempo and adds another layer of energizing bass that strikes a perfect balance with Katy’s smooth, R&B-influenced vocals.

Born in the small logging town of Coquille, Oregon, Laura Gibson started as an outsider to Portland's vibrant indie rock scene performing solo acoustic shows in AIDS hospices and kindergartens.

She has announced that her new album ‘La Grande’ will be released in January 2012. The title track has also been made available as a free download.
